Wigton’s Fountain Gallery 7 Years On; A Celebration
The Fountain Gallery opened on Wigton’s High Street in 2011. It’s aim was to provide a permanent display space for original art & craft created by North Cumbrian Artists who formed a cooperative group to share expenses and stewarding duties. It remains the sole artist-led gallery north of Barrow in Furness.
Originally 14 in number the group now has 18 members: 2 potters, 2 jewellers, a sculptor, a wildlife photographer, an animal portraitist, a pyrographer, and 10 individual painters. The Gallery membership has gradually changed personnel over the years, and continues to welcome new artists at all times.
This exhibition celebrates its first 7 years, showing original work by 25 of the artists who have been associated with the Fountain Gallery since 2011. The show features such notable contributors as Margaret Harrison, Jim Malone, Marilyn Laugeson and Brian Campbell.
