The REMAINS and the REMINDERS
Local artist, Jan Marshall works primarily with installation and mixed media art. Her pattern of working has always been in series – initially with drawing, painting and collage but culminates with multisensory installations. She has worked like this for thirty years before turning largely to making playful 3D wheeled sculptures when she joined the Masters course (Contemporary Fine Art) at the University of Cumbria in 2015.
Jan is on a mission of sorts, trying to communicate something of the sacred in everyday life. Her 'shrines' offer a hint of reflection and time taken to respect and honour all species of life.
