Artists living, working or creating in the City of Carlisle, present an exciting gallery space for contemporary art in the Old Fire Station.
The idea to create a contemporary gallery space in the City was born some time ago. The opportunity to create an exciting exhibition space flooded with light from the large period windows of this iconic building was too good to miss. So, after two years of discussion and negotiation, the Dormitory room at the Old Fire Station was taken over by Carlisle Contemporary Arts, a cooperative of ten artists connected with the City of Carlisle.
Members of the CCA have worked tirelessly to successfully present a first-class exhibition area, flooded with natural light and lots of white space to professionally exhibit an eclectic range of art.
The gallery is open daily Wednesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and Sundays from 12 pm to 4 pm.
The gallery is entirely Artist-run and operated so one of the artists in the co-operative will always be present to offer advice.
Our plans our to feature one or possibly two guest artists on a monthly basis and our member artists will be offering workshops Artist Members of the co-operative are; Anne Bryson, Caroline Dalton, David Hollins, Richard Kavanagh, Marilyn Laugesen, Sally Moon, Amanda Mudge, Ray Pearson, Janis Young.More information on the artists can be found in the members' section below.
